Kardámena.

Information.

There are many locations where you will found fossils from the Neogene’s period.

This location is 1,5 km from Kardámena on the right hand on the road to the airport.
There is an other location close to the Iberostar Panorama Hotel in the hills knows as Heraclis.

On the Greek island of Kos you can find various fossils in the limestone from the Miocene and Pliocene (part of the Neogene’s period). In almost all outcrops here you can find bivalves amongst other fossils.

NOTE! Fossil collection is not allowed in Greece. In the law there is no distinction between archaeological finds and fossils. It can lead to problems at the customs. At your own risk!

Finds of:

• Bivalves (mostly prints of the inside and also oysters an many Pecten).
  
• Gastropods.
  
• Corals.
  
• Sea Urchins (mostly fragments).
