This was built in the 3rd century and situated opposite the excavations of XYSTOS and on the other side
of the street Grigoriou 5th. It was discovered by the archeologist Luciano Lavrenzi at the excavations
that ware carried out in 1929 in quite good condition. An intire restoration finished in 2001.
It has nine marble steps with a stair-head that separates
them from 5 other built steps. Probably the stair-head served to separate the first from the second class. At the
extremities there are 18 marble steps, and the entire amphitheatric assembly of the steps is supported on domed
chambers. Here were found hidden many ancient statues, among wich the most important is that of Hippocrates wich
to-day is at the Museum.
